The International Business Club is a pre-professional organization that aims to connect the global business world with the entire UBC student body. With the diverse population of students we have at UBC, we will be able to help students in various faculties to attain the resources and skills that they need to succeed at the international level. In addition, we provide tools for students to gain experience and knowledge in a global business environment through cooperation with internationally active businesses.

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS SEMINARS

IBSeminarsTempOur IB Seminars are gatherings of students who are interested in acquiring the appropriate skills in order to properly conduct business in different parts of the world. Organized into three separate seminars throughout the year, each is based upon distinct geographical locations: Asia, Middle East, and Europe. Each seminar consists of learning applicable language phrases, vocabulary, and cultural norms that will prepare students for future success in the global marketplace.

SOCIALS

As a member of our club, you will have dozens of opportunities to meet other students interested in international business. In particular, we will be having various dinner get-togethers as well as an Icebreaker in late October.  Our main social events will be coordinated by four qualified first year representatives.

GLOBAL INK

Global Ink is the official publication of the International Business Club, aimed at providing students with the link to global commerce. Each issue presents up-to-date information on foreign business opportunities, in-depth interviews with cosmopolitan business professionals, and focuses on global business trends. Global ink will equip students the knowledge to succeeding in the competitive flat world by drawing on information from current industry professionals, and sharing personal experiences of students on exchange and co-op placements abroad.

Speaker Series

Our Speaker Sessions are another way to enhance the international business experience. We strive to invite industry professionals, or passionate professors who can share their perspective on pressing matters within the global economy. These sessions are structured to give students insight on various matters such as sustainability, and government policies just to name a few. Our goal is to provide an experience that students cannot receive within a typical class room lecture.

Global Village

Global Village is a dynamic event where cultural clubs, local ethnic restaurants, and renowned costume designers come together to experience the true beauty of diversity. Many events are showcased to fulfill this goal including our spectacular fashion sow and international food fair, both of which are based on the theme of global culture and diversity. This signature event reflects the essence of what international business is all about – understanding and embracing the different worlds around us.

World Cities

World Cities night is a networking dinner event where students can hear from several keynote speakers and interact with dozens of professionals who have worked in other cities around the world. Highlights of the event include discussions of similarities and differences between major cities, and how to engage with cultures around the world. This event will be held in an ambient restaurant in downtown Vancouver.

In addition, we are currently working on several collaborative events with other clubs on campus. We will keep you posted over the school year about these events!
