PVCC features a Valuation Workshop, Speaker Panel, and Networking Session where students will have an opportunity to learn and connect with experienced venture capitalists and innovative entrepreneurs! Industry professionals in the field of venture capital, engineering, and entrepreneurship will judge and give feedback to competitors.

In a team of 3-4, students can apply in as an Entrepreneur Team (E Team) or a Private Investor Team (PI Team).

E Team: Solve a real-world problem by initiating a venture idea; present a business plan to PI teams and negotiate financing.

PI Team: Evaluate business ideas of E-Teams and present the analysis with a valuation.

Marc-David Siedel (2011), David Bentall (2010), and Irfhan Rawji (2009) have been recipients of the Teaching Excellence Award within the last three years, and are therefore NOT eligible for the award this year. CUS Len Henriksson Award

Nominate your favourite professor for the Len Henriksson Award. The Len Henriksson Award is given to a Faculty of Commerce professor who fosters an engaging, dynamic learning environment, both inside and outside the classroom. Immersed in academic and extracurricular student initiatives, nominees for this award are always providing advice and support to others. This award differs from the Teaching Excellence Award, in that it considers a professor’s extracurricular involvement, in addition to teaching ability. The Futures in Information Technology (FIT) Conference is UBC BizTech Network’s signature event. The primary goal of FIT is to enhance students’ awareness of the strategic value of IT assets to businesses and what IT knowledge and skills business managers must have in today’s rapidly changing business environment.

The FIT conference will be designed to let all undergraduate students understand how IT has impacted different functional areas in businesses and motivate them to integrate BTM into their studies. The theme for the FIT 2012 is “IT and the Manager’s job”. In collaboration with the MIS Division, the UBC BizTech Network wants to provide over 100 UBC undergraduate students an incredible networking and learning experience.
